The entire galaxy is a mess. Warring empires and cosmic terrorists plague every corner. Someone has to rise above it all and fight for those who have no one to fight for them. A group of misfits–DRAX THE DESTROYER, GAMORA, ROCKET RACCOON, GROOT, FLASH THOMPSON, a.k.a. VENOM, KITTRY PRYDE, and BEN GRIMM, a.k.a. THE THING— joined together under the leadship of PETER QUILL, STAR-LORD. They serve a higher cause as the… GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.
The Guardians have overthrown a prison planet, rescuing innocent political slaves of the Badoon empire. One was their old teammate Angela rejoined the Guardians just as Captain Marvel, another old teamamte, called to ask them to return to Earth.
Thanks to an inhuman who seems to be able to predict the future, Earth’s heroes prevented a cataclysmic event. Captain Marvel believes that acting on his visions saves lives , but there have been terrible costs. A new super hero CIVIL WAR is imminent. Now the Guardians will have to make a choice: Protect the future…or change it?

CIVIL WAR Ⅱはマーベルワールドのなかで未来予知の能力を有するインヒューマン達が集結したユリシーズを巡って、キャプテン・マーベルとアイアンマンが率いるスーパーヒーローがそれに立ち向かうという内容。「犯罪発生前に阻止する」という理論に対してアイアンマンは真っ向から対立する。逆にキャプテン・マーベルはその予知能力で「犯罪を未然に防ぐ」という考えに賛同し、アイアンマンとは対立する立場に立つ。結末としてはユリシーズの能力は「確定した未来を見ている」のではなく「多元宇宙のある一面」を見ているであるというもの。元々、クリー人が作り出した新人類インヒューマンはテリジェンクリスタルから発生する「テリジェンミスト」を使ってパワーを生み出す。オハイオ州立大学の学生であるユリシーズ・カインが意図せず「テリジェンミスト」を浴びてしまい、インヒューマンの能力に目覚めることから話が始まります。
