After a fierce battle on Earth–helping former teammate Captain Marvel in the super hero Civil War–the Guardians lost their ship. In the wreckage, they learned Petet Quill knew Thanos had been on Earth and kept it a secret from the others. Gamora left in a rage, clashing with S.H.I.L.D. and Captain Marvel before learning she was too late–Thanos was already off-planet. The others split up and tried to find a way back into space.
