SUMMARY :
Wayne Tannager seeks Sam & Twitch’s help in locating his missing fiance, Gretchen Culver. Elsewhere, the police clear two more serial killer cases from their books when they find the killer sewn up by Suture’s handiwork. Mawbley becomes Suture’s next victim just as he intends to start a killing spree in a movie theatre. Meanwhile, Sam & Twitch trace Gretchen to an empty grave.

Curse of the Spawn #5 Summary:
John Mawbley is a methodical serial killer who is certain he is cleansing society of its evil. When Gretchen Culver happens upon the carnage of Mawbley’s crowd killing, she escapes into traffic and is critically injured. She regains consciousness while being raped by the police escort and ambulance attendants, only to be beaten unconscious again. Thinking she is dead, they deliver her to another serial killer for disposal. Meanwhile, Sam and Twitch are ridiculed by their former police brethren for being private investigators even as they help them investigate still another murder case. When Twitch begins to question their career change, they land the missing persons case of Gretchen Culver.

レディ・オデッサの使いの者が川べりから流れた血、裂かれた肉、砕けた骨を拾い集めていた。オデッサの元に届いた破片はまだ足りない。彼女はその破片を縫い合わせていた。その頃、サムとトゥイッチの元にはウェイン・タナンガ―が訪れていた。彼はグレッチェン・カルヴァーの婚約者だった。突然、行方不明になった彼女の調査を二人に依頼しにきたのだ。 一方、連続殺人事件は続いていた。そこに共通しているのは被害者が他の殺人事件で容疑者として指名手配されていた者たちだった。事件を追っていた刑事Brayde、Edlandたちも複雑だった。この犯人は悪党たちを消しまくっているのだ。だが、若い刑事であるレイ・スパークスは納得がいかなかった。

その頃、ジョン・モーズリーは間違った使命に突き動かされていた。悪魔の軍団との戦いが彼の使命だった。そしてモーズリーは映画館に向かう。そしてポケットに忍ばせていた拳銃に手をかけた時、目の前に一人の女性が現れた。全身に縫い目があるその女性は手に持つ剣でモーズリーの両手を掻き切った。

やがて事件が発覚し、サムとトゥイッチが現場に訪れた時にはモーズリーは磔にされていた。

引き続きDwayne TurnerがPencillerを担当するなかで、書き込み過ぎている絵柄は見ていて少し見難い部分があるが、Sutureに関してはとても美しく描かれていると思います。それ故に彼女の身体中にある縫い目の意味が分かるととても辛い気持ちになります。その呪いが解けるのであれば彼女に死が訪れるのも幸せだと。魅力的なんですが、むしろ存在できなくなってほしいと願うキャラクターです。流石にフィギュア化はしませんでしたね。
