Here is a brief synopsis of this new and imaginative story brought to you by the talented Brian Holguin (Spawn) and Jay Anacleto (Aria, Marvels Two). In a far distant age of a world not our own, the Old Gods are dying, slaughtered one by one by the dark blade of a mysterious, unearthly marauder… Under the protection of the goddess Llyra, the island kingdom of Endra-La, oldest and most storied of the Shrouded Isles, has avoided the cruel fate suffered by lesser kingdoms. But on the eve of a royal wedding, black sails are spotted on the horizon. Alarms are sounded and fire fills the skies. The Godslayer has come for them at last.

ジャスミンの香りが漂う季節に、ついにGodslayerがEndra-laに現れた。Endra-laは天国も魔界もなく、数多の神々が住まうこの世界に存在した。 芸術と科学、知識と教養に満ち溢れていたEndra-laの一角には若き君主が統べる都 Indruがあり、老女であるNevaは女神の現世での現身として城に仕えていた。 彼女は長く現身の役目を務めており、水鏡によって映し出される有様を見て、ついにこの国にも神殺しの異名を持つGodslayerが現れることを知った。 やがて決戦の時、Indruの勇敢な兵士たちの応戦も空しくGodslayerによって都は陥落し、Nevaの元にも彼は姿を現した。だが、静かに仮面を脱いだその顔立ちはかつて愛したBairnのものであった。
Nevaはかつて若く美しい女性であり、強く勇敢な男性 Bairnとの間に愛を育んでいた。だが、やがて始まった戦に出陣したBairnは命を落としてしまう。 彼は都に残してきたNevaのことを思い出しながら、闇へと沈んでいった・・・
Image Comicsの作品である「ARIA」でストーリーを担当するBrian Holguinと作画を担当するJay Anacletoが描いた作品。「ARIA」の世界観にも似たファンタジーの世界のなかにHellspawnを描き出した。 のちにSpawn GodslayerはSpin-off作品として連載されるようになる。
