Our Story so far:
There has always been a Mavimage. Created to ptotect the earth, this nearly boundless mystic power has been passed from one guardian to the next for centuries. Gifted with near omnipatence, the power of flight and cosmic awareness of Mages, these beings fight against predators who stalk the weak and heipness. The latest Mavimage is Lori Saunders. Snatched from a life on mean streets, she struggles to learn to control her new powers before she is consumed by them.

Also possessed of extraordinary power are the Amazonian Warrior Princess known as Glory and the renegade Angel-Huntress Angela. Currently, these two have joined forces to battle Celestine, the most powerful of the seraphs, who has begun to war against Heaven in an attempt to “purify” it. Moment ago, Celestine harnessed the power of an orbiting space station to bring an army of the dead back to life, only to be thwarted by Maximage, who drained her powers attempting to block the energy beam from reaching Earth. That may have been a mistake. I should know. My name is Lori saunders and this is my story.

Celestineが甦らせた死者たちは砂の中へと姿を消していく。兵を失ったCelestineと対峙するAngelaとGlory。 その目の前に空から一人の女性が落ちてきた。 その女性が「あなた達は誰？」と声をかけると、その隙にCelestineは砂の中へと姿を消した。
残されたAngela達にその女性は「私はLori。ついさっきまで、Maximageだったの・・・」と告げる。 Loriの説明ではCelestine達が占拠したANGEL STATIONからここへThe Elemental fireの力が送られていて、死者を甦らせていた。しかしANGEL STATIONが解放され、The Elemental fireの力が途絶えたため、死者は砂の中へ溶けていったとのことだった。
Loriが現れてすぐにCelestineが姿を消したこともあり、Loriの言葉はAngelaとGloryには俄かに信じられなかった。 オアシスの泉を通じてイタリアに移動した彼女たちの前に第八魔界の王であるMalebolgiaが現れ、Celestineの反乱の裏には魔王の謀略があったことを知る。そこへCelestineが再び姿を現しGloryの喉元に手をかけた。救いたいという気持ちが通じたのか、魔法の力が戻りMaximageへと変身したLori”の攻撃にCelestineは再び、姿を消した。

地球の守護する者として何世紀も亘り「魔法の力」は次の候補者へと 受け継がれていた。その守護者たちはMaximageと呼ばれている。
そして現在、その力を受け継いでいるのは”Lori Saunders”である。
「MAXIMAGE」は全７巻のコミックス。ストリート・チルドレンで悪ガキのLoriが地球の守護者であるMaximageに選ばれるのは3巻:A Plague of Hatredsにて。面白い設定だったが、コミックスとしては短命に終わった。
