当時のRob LiefeldはImage Comicsを代表する作家で多くの作品を発表していた。この”New Man #1～#4″ も彼の作品である”MAXIMAGE #2″から続く話で、続きは”Youngblood #4″へと引き継がれた。この一連の内容は”Extreme Destroyer”という9つのコミックスによるシリーズとなっていて、”New Man #1″はPart 3 of 9に当たる。
Angelaはストーリーには大きく関わっておらず、New Manがやがて対決するであろう敵を象徴する形で登場した。Neil Gaimanが興味を示していたら実際に敵として登場していたかもしれないが、”New Man”自体が短命の4巻完結で終わってしまった。
