Spawn metes out justice to a highly respected pillar of the community who secretly enjoys child pornography. He later meets with a representative of Hell who becomes hostile and agitated when Spawn points out to him that without mankind Heaven and Hell are left with nothing to rule, nothing to fight over and essentially nothing to do. The demon appears to admit defeat when Angela appears on the scene.

SPAWN №88 Summary
A frightened child named Mary tells the story of her life with her mean, abusive stepfather. When Sam and Twitch investigate his untimely death, they rule it an accident even though it seems like they know their red-cloaked informant was meting out his type of justice. Meanwhile, Cogliostro meets with representives from both Heaven and Hell to discuss the precarious balance of earth matters that has been disturbed with the resignation of their missing pawn. Mr.Hell leaves the meeting with a final threat to Cog that he needs to deliver Spawn to him quickly or else, while Ms. Heaven concedes that perhaps the will of God isn’t quite what it used to be.

コネチカット州コーンウォールに住む裁判官 Mason Everett Sterling Ⅲには常に仕事の重責が付き纏っていた。郵便受けには慈悲団体から寄付を募るための夕食会への招待状が届いていた。彼はネクタイを緩め、息を深く吸い込んだ。長い一日だった。やっと楽しみを得る時間が訪れた。 この時間にはメイドも庭師も帰宅している。彼は一人の時間を得たのだ。秘密の書庫から取り出したビデオテープをデッキに入れる。そして画面に映し出されたのは年端もいかぬ幼女と少年との行為を撮影したものだった。 その時! 彼の背後からAl:Spawnが現れる。「It is time for you to be judged!」
Al:Spawnに問い詰められたMason。やがてMasonは銃を手にし、それを右のこめかみに当てる。Masonの屋敷に乾いた銃声が鳴り響いた。
次にAl:Spawnが向かったのはNew Yorkの片隅にあるカリオストロ卿の書庫館だった。そこに見知らぬ男が座っていた。「カリオストロ卿はどうした。」Al:Spawnは男に問いかけるが、男は気にする必要はないという。男はAl:Spawnに語り続ける。お前が欲しているのはワンダか？ いいだろう。だが、彼女が手に入るとでも思ったか。 それよりもお前は我々、俺にとって重要な存在なのだ。マレボルギアなど目ではない。俺はお前を第八階層の王に仕立て上げることも出来る。男は徐々に声を荒げていき、その姿は魔物へと変貌していった。そんな魔物の戯言に付き合う必要はない、Al:Spawnは魔物を壁に打ち付け、床に落ちていた天使イマキュラータの槍を突き付けた。悲鳴を上げる魔物。 だが、Al:Spawnは槍を手放す。こんな物を使うより、コイツにより優劣を教え込む方法がある。Al:Spawnは指先に魔力を集め、魔物の左目を潰した。それはAl:Spawnに屈したことを意味する刻印だった。
その後、ミッドタウンからタクシーに乗ってきた女性が書庫館に辿り着いた。床に転がる槍を見て不敵にほほ笑むその女性は天使Angelaが変身した姿だった。
